Education

The training structure for the scaffold construction industry is included in chapter 7 of the Scaffolding Directive. The Scaffolding Directive is part of the Health and Safety Catalogue for the Construction and Infra sector.

The training structure focuses on professional competence, in particular safety, safe working and safety perception at every level. In this way, not only are employees taught how to work consciously and responsibly, but they can also remain involved in the scaffolding construction industry for a long time.

The SVWOH contributes by drawing up and managing the qualification files and the coherence with the final and test levels.

Diploma awarding & personal certification

A diploma in scaffolding construction can be obtained through a learning/work programme. The required training can be completed at intermediate vocational training (MBO) institutions. It is also possible to complete a so-called EVC process (recognition of acquired competences).

In addition, training is provided by accredited trainers who can be shown to work in accordance with Chapter 7 of the Scaffolding Guideline. Successful completion of this type of training course with these trainers entitles the trainee to a training certificate (from the trainer).

A personal certificate can be obtained by successfully completing an exam at an examination body licensed by the certification body.  With a positive result, the participant receives the personal certificate, which is valid for 5 years. This certificate must bear the logo of the certification body, the examining body and SVWOH.

Accredited training institutes

Trade association VSB uses an audit system for training institutes, which assesses the quality and content of their training courses. The approval has a validity of 3 years, after which it is re-tested to extend the recognition.

The training institutes recognised by the VSB are:
